According to our colleagues at Nice Matin, OGC Nice full-back Jordan Amavi is closing in on a move to Aston Villa.
Get French Football News’ understanding was that Aston Villa had had a €11m & €4m bonus offer accepted for Jordan Amavi about 10 days ago by OGC Nice, but that the player needed convincing over the move.
Villa have made a salary offer which allegedly would triple Amavi’s current salary, but the stumbling blocks in the player’s mind had previously included whether a move to Villa would disrupt any chances of making the EURO 2016 squad, whether a move to the Premier League was too soon, whether Lyon and Atletico Madrid were not better options and whether he should wait for them to come closer to Nice’s valuation for the player.
Unfortunately for Amavi, Aston Villa’s offer blows any other side out of contention on account of their bid.
Whether or not Amavi has decided to join Aston Villa, we will soon see. Nice Matin do not have the best record when it comes to transfers.
Get French Football News contacted Jordan Amavi’s agents, USM-Mongai, this morning for a comment. They simply responded: “Today, we cannot talk about it.”
