Kevin Trapp: “I wanted to be like Oliver Kahn.”

In an exclusive interview published today in Le Parisien, PSG’s German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp spoke on a number of topics concerning his recent arrival at the capital club. Extracts.

On his idol…

Oliver Kahn, the captain of Bayern Munich and of the German national team. I like his character, his style of play. I wanted to be like him. Today, I still have role models like Neuer, the current national team goalkeeper, who has changed a lot in terms of the way that people look at goalkeepers… I also watch Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon.

On options this summer…

I had three other offers. But PSG is today one of the five biggest clubs in the world, and it quickly became clear that I wanted to come to Paris.

On a feisty relationship with the other PSG goalkeepers…

Between us two, in fact us three, there are no problems. There is competition, that is normal, that is everywhere. Salvatore is a good guy, Nico is a good guy. I can tell you that. We work together, we have a good relationship, otherwise it would be difficult. We all want to play, that is normal. It is quite a unique position, but there are no problems.
