The LFP have at last decided to ratify Hatem Ben Arfa’s contract with Ligue 1 side Nice, which will allow the move to go through, but the transfer is certainly not without it’s downsides. Ben Arfa is now allowed to join and train with OGC Nice, but is banned from any official matches for 6 months.
Crucially, the decision from the LFP to ratify the contract means that Ben Arfa cannot join any other club than OGC Nice, so in all likelihood the move will go through, unless Ben Arfa and Nice activate the clause in his contract which allows OGCN to terminate the player’s deal for nothing, having already prepared for this eventuality. Nice currently sit in 8th place in Ligue 1, following an upturn in results after the winter break.
