According to today’s edition of La Provence, Marseille and Marcelo Bielsa have reached a total agreement over a contract extension until 2017 and, barring a complete, shock turnaround in the situation, the Argentinian’s new deal should be signed and made official in the next 48 hours.
This is because he is due at the Champions League final on Saturday, before returning home to Argentina for holidays.
Bielsa has made concessions, he has accepted a smaller staff for the forthcoming seasons but so too has President Vincent Labrune. Bielsa has received a considerable wage rise as well as greater power when it comes to recruitment policy.
The two men have agreed to work together on transfers and Bielsa has submitted a list of targets that includes Ligue 1 players but also some individuals from South America.
