According to a report this evening by La Provence, talks between Marseille President Vincent Labrune and Marcelo Bielsa this afternoon have not been as smooth as the former party would have liked.
The French media remains confident of a deal between the two parties until 2017, but the agreement might not be reached tonight, as both parties continue to negotiate at the time of writing.
A reliable journalist at Marca.com has today shot down assertions concerning ongoing talks between Bielsa and Fenerbahce, with the Argentinian fully believed to have rejected this offer.
Get French Football News attempted to contact two sources today concerning rumours about Bielsa and West Ham United, neither of which were available for comment at the time of writing.
It is however understood that Marcelo Bielsa visited London at the end of April concerning the possibility of taking the position at West Ham. However, Bielsa is understood to have rejected the opportunity after not receiving the guarantees that he was looking for, this according to Fox Deportes.
Bielsa has historically never negotiated with more than one club at a time and while we admittedly have no outright confirmation, Get French Football News would find it extremely strange for Bielsa to change this policy and be currently negotiating with West Ham United and Marseille simultaneously.
West Ham might not have given up on their pursuit of Bielsa, but they are firmly second in line in terms of what Marcelo Bielsa would like to do next season. If talks with Marseille definitively fail, then the situation could change, but, for the moment, West Ham might be best advised to look elsewhere.
Bielsa has also rejected job offers from the Saudi Arabian FA and Sampdoria.
