Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio announced today that Real Madrid had agreed a provisional contract with PSG midfielder Marco Verratti worth €7m a year net for 5 years. According to his report, Real were ready to offer PSG €50m, but that the deal would be difficult in terms of convincing the Ligue 1 champions to part with the player.
Marco Verratti’s agent has moved to shoot down this particular rumour in an interview with RMC. Di Marzio’s story suggested that Di Campli, the player’s agent, had met with Florentino Perez’s aide Ernesto Bronzetti and it was with him that Di Campli agreed to something.
Di Campli had the following to say to our colleagues at RMC this afternoon:
“I am in Italy. I have absolutely not met with Real Madrid. I have not met with President Florentino Perez. This is false.”
Real Madrid have since denied making any offer for Marco Verratti in an official statement.
