Marseille and West Ham have agreed a deal for the transfer of Dimitri Payet, but the player has yet to fully commit to a deal, hoping that Marseille can offer him a contract extension that entices him to stay in 48 hours before he pens a deal with the Premier League side.
The deal is €15m plus bonuses and the player is expected to arrive in London tomorrow ahead of a medical and the signing of a 5 year contract with the option to extend by another worth €2.5m net a year as a base salary. The player will earn €15m a net over the course of 5 years, should the deal go through.
Dimitri Payet’s agent, Jacques-Olivier Auguste, has denied the deal is at all done, speaking to various separate French media outlets. The player’s agent is currently in London finalising a contract deal with West Ham.
“Nothing is done, even if it whatever happens will happen very quickly in either direction. We are still trying to find a solution with Vincent Labrune for Payet to stay at Marseille. As long as there is still hope of that happening, we will pursue that as much as we can.”
Dimitri Payet also refused to be drawn to any comment of any note, but did suggest that a contract extension is still in play after speaking to our colleagues at Mediafoot Marseille:
“I don’t want to talk at the moment. I will speak once I have extended my contract or I have left Marseille.”
