Mino Raiola on Ibrahimovic, Pogba, Maxwell, van der Wiel and more

Speaking to RMC, superagent Mino Raiola discussed the futures of a number of players that he looks after including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Gregory van der Wiel.

On Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future…

“Zlatan still has a contract until 2016. He is happy at Paris. He is trying to do his best, all of the time. I think that he is in fine form. This year, he had some little worries, but now, he is fine. The future, is short. Each year, we see what happens. But he still has a one year contract at the end of this season. The club is very happy, so is he. I don’t see any problem. Will he finish with PSG? I don’t know. He has another 8 years in him. We reached an agreement. He has worked 15 years for himself. Now, he will work these last 8 years for me. That means that his career will last for another 8 years. I don’t know if he will stay at PSG for 8 years. But he can play until he is 42, 43.”

On Ibrahimovic’s level of motivation…

“Zlatan has always had the same desire to continue and to be better. Of course, he is not used to being forced away from the pitch because of an injury. But he has never said: “I’m fed up, I don’t want to train, I don’t care if I lose or win.” He has always had the same motivation to win. He is just as much of a perfectionist as he has always been. It is his mentality. He still has the same hunger that he had when I found him at Ajax. He has even improved in that sense.”

On Ibrahimovic’s relationship with Blanc…

“Zlatan told me that the game against Chelsea (Champions League) was perfectly prepared by the technical staff. The preparation for this game was truly perfect. That means that there is great respect between Blanc and Zlatan. It is reciprocated. They are two great professionals. I can even say that Zlatan likes Blanc.”

On Ibrahimovic’s relationship with Cavani…

“Zlatan is interested in just one thing: to win with PSG. There is no pro-Zlatan and pro-Cavani camps in the team. Today, Zlatan is still the leader at PSG. Everyone can see it. He respects everyone, he respects Cavani and vice versa. Everything else, it doesn’t exist, those are just stories that are invented by the press. In the dressing room, there is a natural hierarchy. From what I gather, the dressing room at PSG is very good (in terms of atmosphere).”

On PSG and the Champions League…

“I hope for him (Zlatan), for PSG, for Parisians and for French football (that PSG can win it). But the way in which the competition is organised, it depends a little bit on luck. One detail can change everything. It is not always the best team that wins. That is why I think we should change the format of the Champions League, but that is a long discussion. With the quality of their team, PSG can win it.”

On Maxwell…

“We have found an agreement (with PSG) for Max. We need to put it all on paper but I think there will not be any problems with his extension.”

On Gregory van der Wiel…

“We are currently discussing for a possible extension. But we have not yet found an agreement. I hope that it will come, because there are a lot of interested clubs in England, Spain, Italy and Germany. I hope that we will get there but we do not yet have an agreement.”

On Paul Pogba…

“Paul Pogba has extended his contract with Juventus. There are not many clubs who could get Pogba. We are open to all clubs who are able to reach an agreement with Juventus. He is happy at Juventus. He is concentrating on each game. After that, who knows what will happen in the summer? We shall see. We are preparing for every eventuality. But we do not necessarily have to leave (Juve). If we do not find the right club with the right conditions, there is no problem to stay for another year at Juventus. Paul is a free man. He can go wherever he wants, where he will find the right conditions to play, where the club believes in him. There isn’t a single closed door, not in England, not in France, not in Spain, not in Italy, not in Germany, not anywhere else. He respects all clubs. But I will say it again, not many clubs will be able to afford him. Are PSG interested? You should ask them that.”
