According to our colleagues at Canal +, Premier League side Newcastle United have made a substantial offer to Marseille for the transfer of winger Florian Thauvin.
While the transfer figure is not known, the Magpies are willing to double the French youth international’s salary. Thauvin is however more interested by Tottenham Hotspur at the time of writing, even if this is a big step by Newcastle.
According to Canal +, the player was left out of the squad to face Metz last night because of serious disagreements with certain teammates which have seriously affected his future at the club. Earlier this week, captain and goalkeeper Steve Mandanda tried to calm the aforementioned individuals down and for Thauvin to make peace with them, but he failed in this regard. As a result, Thauvin is closing in on a summer exit. Tottenham Hotspur have yet to make a formal offer, but are due to hold further talks with Marseille in the coming days following an initial meeting with Vincent Labrune last Tuesday.
