Paris prosecutors have this morning opened an investigation into apparent “racial abuse” by a group of Chelsea supporters towards a member of the Paris populous.
Footage emerged last night, courtesy of The Guardian, depicting a scene on the Paris metro where a group of English speaking gentlemen, believed to be on their way to Chelsea’s clash with PSG in the Champions League at the Parc des Princes, refused to let a black gentleman onto a specific carriage.
They pushed the man off the train and back onto the platform several times as he attempted to board it before the gentleman in question stopped attempting to enter the train via that specific carriage.
In response, the aggressors were then filmed singing: “We’re racist, we’re racist, we’re racist and we like it.”
Chelsea football club have called the incident “abhorrent” in a press release last night.
UEFA announced this morning that they would not be taking any action following the incident as it falls outside of their remit because it occurred away from the Parc des Princes.
Paris prosecutors are now investigating the situation.
