Philippe Montanier could be sacked imminently by Rennes

According to our colleagues at 20 Minutes, Rennes manager Philippe Montanier could be living his final days at the head of the club.

The Frenchman and former Real Sociedad boss, whose contract runs until 2019, is running out of good will from the Rennes board and could be sacked during the international break.

Rennes President Rene Ruello is fed up with the disappointing style of football and wants to see some “juga bonito” at the club. The relationship between Ruello and Gourcuff has also reportedly deteriorated whilst the atmosphere in the dressing room remains downbeat. As a result, Ruello has allegedly already come up with a 3-man shortlist with candidates to replace Montanier.

This list includes Remi Garde, Rene Girard and former Lorient boss Christian Gourcuff.
