Following reports from the British press yesterday, L’Équipe and Le Parisien have announced that PSG have placed Tottenham Hotspur’s Benjamin Stambouli high up on their shortlist to replace the departed Yohan Cabaye.
The player was due to sign for Watford yesterday after agreeing personal terms, but an approach on behalf of PSG at the last minute has potentially scuppered a deal. L’Équipe affirm that the player is fully behind a move to PSG, even without any playing time guarantees. A £4m offer was enough for Tottenham to accept when Watford were bidding, but Spurs can now expect to receive potentially more than the £5m they paid for the player.
For PSG, the player would count as a homegrown talent and play a part of the club’s eight man quota in that regard for Champions League squad registration. Cabaye departed, eyes on Stambouli.
