According to L’Équipe, PSG are not interested in bringing current Chelsea manager José Mourinho to the club, with Laurent Blanc’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
PSG have apparently decided to prioritise style of play and philosophy as the main attributes for Blanc’s successor, if they decide not to offer the former French national team boss a new contract. Blanc’s agent recently met with the PSG hierarchy to discuss a possible extension, but Les Parisiens have yet to offer Blanc anything.
The PSG board remains resolute in their desire for Champions League glory, and another domestic quadruple will not be enough to save Blanc. Inside the club there remain individuals who do not believe in Blanc’s capacity to deploy the right tactics and install the necessary discipline when it comes to the crunch matches in the second half of the season in the Champions League.
José Mourinho in terms of a replacement is not the priority, as the PSG board views him to not have an attractive style of football or philosophy that he could impose on the club. He also does not harbour good relations with David Luiz or Cristiano Ronaldo, the latter being Les Parisiens principal summer transfer window target.
PSG’s principal targets for manager therefore are Pep Guardiola, Arsene Wenger and Diego Simeone. The latter two individuals rejected PSG last summer.
Blanc must excel in the Champions League or he will likely not receive a contract extension.
