Bordeaux President Jean Louis Tiraud confirmed to our colleagues at Eurosport that an agreement has not yet been reached between Bordeaux and PSG for the transfer of French central midfielder Clement Chantome.
Despite reports from French newspapers earlier this morning that a deal had been agreed, GFFN understands that PSG have not been able to sell the central midfielder because of the situation with Adrien Rabiot.
While Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in taking Rabiot on loan without an option to buy has quelled in recent days, the player has a clause in his new PSG contract which allows him to join any club he likes this month on loan until the end of the season without an option to buy.
With PSG being in 4 competitions at this late stage in the season, they have decided that they can only afford to allow one of these individuals to leave and are not certain that Rabiot will stay, despite encouraging conversations between manager Laurent Blanc and Rabiot as the former attempted to encourage the latter to stay.
Bordeaux are therefore considering looking at other targets, but the names of these individuals has not filtered through. Some are suggesting Vincent Pajot and Didier Digard.
