According to our colleagues at L’Équipe, Lille boss René Girard is on the verge of quitting the club at the end of the season due to the fractured nature of his relationship with Lille board members, notably with future Director General Jean Michel Vandamme.
Girard and Lille have already held negotiations over a mutual termination agreement, with Girard not expecting to be paid the full €100,000 net that he would receive if he honoured the remaining year of his contract. An agreement is expected to be reached in the next 15 days.
Hervé Renard is the hot favourite to replace Girard at the time of writing, with the current Cote D’Ivoire boss having held telephone conversations with Lille representatives. Seydoux has however yet to make a decision and the Ivory Coast FA are likely to be difficult to handle in terms of Renard being bought out of his contract.
