Sepp Blatter blames Nicolas Sarkozy over Qatar 2022

Suspended FIFA President Sepp Blatter has pointed the finger at former French President Nicolas Sarkozy for Qatar’s victory to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Speaking to Russian media outlet TASS, Blatter had the following to say:

“The 2002 World Cup should have gone to the United States, but a meeting between Sarkozy and the prince of Qatar changed everything.”

UEFA President Michel Platini was also present at that meeting with Sarkozy and the prince of Qatar. Platini was initially allegedly going to vote for the United States bid, but this meeting that Blatter speaks of reportedly changed Platini’s mind to vote for Qatar instead.
