St Étienne manager Christophe Galtier will make a definitive decision regarding his future at the beginning of next week, with the Ligue 1 season officially ending this weekend.
There has been a lot made in the previous months about interest from Newcastle and Marseille vis-a-vis Galtier. The reality is that at the moment Galtier only has one offer. That is a 2 year contract extension from St Étienne, officially offered to him at the beginning of this month.
While there has been consistent dialogue between Newcastle and Galtier’s entourage, indications suggest that the Magpies will be settling for a different option. As for Marseille, President Labrune has made it clear that his absolute priority is to ensure that Marcelo Bielsa stays at the club.
While there is nothing definitive in that regard, Galtier is not understood to be willing to wait around. The next seven days will be decisive. Barring a late change of heart from Newcastle or Bielsa and thus Marseille, Galtier is staying put.
