According to sources contacted by Get French Football News, AS Monaco Vice President Vadim Vasilyev has held multiple telephone conversations with his counterparts at Chelsea concerning the possible recall of Radamel Falcao from his loan spell with the London outfit.
Vasilyev wants to bring a striker in next month and Falcao is his first target, but the Colombian international does not want to make the move back.
Falcao’s initial negative response has resulted in Vasilyev enquiring with Chelsea about Loïc Rémy but the Frenchman has decided to wait until the third week of the January window before deciding on whether or not to leave the club in order to get regular playing time. He believes that he has an outside chance of making the EURO 2016 squad with Karim Benzema’s involvement with the French national team has been suspended. Rémy has been given assurances from Guus Hiddink that he has a fair fight on his hands with Diego Costa for the first team striker spot.
Vasilyev has not given up convincing Falcao yet, who is also enjoying the clean slate set by Guus Hiddink.
More undoubtedly to follow. Monaco will rid of Stephan El Shaarawy and want to sell Lacina Traoré, who has been a disaster, and has intense interest from the Middle East.
