Will Manchester United try to include Cavani in any deal for di Maria?

According to several British media outlets this morning, Manchester United will attempt to include PSG striker Edinson Cavani in any deal that Les Parisiens attempt to form for the transfer of Angel di Maria.

It emerged yesterday that PSG have made contact with the Premier League side over the possible transfer of di Maria, an enquiry that was met favourably by the Red Devils on the account of di Maria’s unhappiness in Manchester as well as his frosty relationship with manager Louis van Gaal.

Contract negotiations between PSG and the player’s agent di Maria are currently ongoing, but the Ligue 1 Champions do not want to submit a formal bid to Manchester United until a provisional contract has been agreed. According to RMC, an offer of €65m is likely to be something that Manchester United are willing to seriously consider.

However, The Guardian and The Independent state today that Manchester United might want to include striker Edinson Cavani in a deal for di Maria. While di Maria is PSG’s number one summer transfer window target, it is hard to see PSG letting Cavani leave the club, with the Uruguayan expected to play a vital role in any success that Les Parisiens will have during the forthcoming campaign.

This desire on the part of Manchester United to find a striker following the departure of Robin van Persie might ruin PSG’s pursuit of di Maria. The transfer battle is on, but who will come out on top?
