You have not read the headline wrong, former Arsenal midfielder and injury-stricken Frenchman Abou Diaby is set to make his debut for Marseille this week, after OM manager Michel announced in today’s press conference that Diaby will be included in the squad to face Trélissac in the Coupe de France on Thursday.
Michel also stated that Diaby would be in the squad to face OGC Nice in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
Diaby joined Marseille in summer but injury problems have prevented him from making his debut up until now. The Marseille medical staff have told certain reporters that they expect Diaby to play a part in around 12 matches before the season ends.
Michel had the following to say on the player in today’s press conferences:
“Abou Diaby has spent a lot of time without playing. It is normal that he feels the pressure. But he will not disappoint us.”
