OGC Nice have agreed personal terms with Brazilian central defender Dante, according to today’s edition of L’Équipe.
The Brazilian has been promised an impressive salary by OGC Nice’s new Chinese-American shareholders, a long contract with the possibility of converting into a coach and the chance to reunite with former manager Lucien Favre, and the promise that Les Aiglons will change system upon his arrival, reverting to three central defenders.
All of these factors have convinced Dante to accept OGC Nice’s offer, despite the fact that he had previously been holding out for a German citizenship, which he would have been applicable for should he have remained in the country until January.
However, fee negotiations between OGC Nice and Wolfsburg rumble on, and there is no guarantee that they will ultimately be successful.
Nice want Wolfsburg to let the player go free, the German side are rumoured to want up to €3.5m for the player.
