This morning Les Bleus beat Bayonne’s U19 side 6-2 during a match in which the national team actually initially went behind in.
10,000 supporters came to watch the match, but Les Bleus were not impressive throughout the encounter.
Tom Ghilardi, a Bayonne U19s player, was the individual who scored first, and Les Bleus were behind for four minutes before pulling away, despite multiple great stops by Alphonse Areola, who played for Bayonne to make up the numbers.
Ben Arfa, Gignac, Moussa Sissoko and Alexandre Lacazette were the scorers, with the latter bagging a hat-trick.
Ben Arfa also picked up three assists, Lacazette with two and Sissoko with one.
The only real negative moment for Les Bleus throughout the encounter was the thigh injury that Andre Pierre Gignac suffered. The player was brought off during the second half and had to have ice strapped to his injury as soon as he returned to the bench.
For the moment, it seems as if Gignac was taken off merely as a precaution, and this knock is unlikely to affect his place at EURO 2016.
The French team in the 1st half: Costil – Sagna, Koscielny, Mangala, Digne – Kanté, Sissoko – Ben Arfa, Payet, Gignac – Giroud.
The French team in the 2nd half: Costil – Jallet, Umtiti, Mangala, Sidibé – Kanté, Sissoko – Ben Arfa, Payet, Lacazette, Gignac (replaced by Digne).
