Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete the transfer of Marseille winger Georges Kevin Nkoudou in the coming days, with the deal being “99%” there, according to individuals contacted by Get French Football News.
Mauricio Pochettino and his sidekick Paul Mitchell were hellbent on getting at least one of Marseille’s prospects through the door this summer and after missing out on Michy Batshuayi, they seem to have their man in Nkoudou.
The French youth international is set to sign a 5 year contract with Spurs by Wednesday, so long as there are no unexpected hiccups between now and then.
Negotiations began about a week ago and Tottenham knew that they had to be intense quickly, with Hamburg, Bournemouth and Sevilla all after the player in a big way.
At the beginning of the week, Mauricio Pochettino phoned Georges Kevin Nkoudou to convince him to join Spurs, according to L’Équipe.
Pochettino assured the winger that he would be an important player immediately for Spurs, receiving first team playing time by the bucketload.
After just one season at Marseille, Nkoudou did not necessarily want to leave, as he felt it would be better for his development to remain at OM. But after thinking further, and accepting that Marseille’s financial position means that his sale would help the club, he has opted for Tottenham.
Spurs have offered Marseille €13m plus bonuses, already 13 times what Marseille bought him from last summer (€1.2m).
