Atletico Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Sevilla for the transfer of striker Kevin Gameiro.
Marca leads the reports that the 29-year-old will join Diego Simeone’s side for an initial €30m plus an extra €5m in variables.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker joined the Andalucian side for €10 million in 2013 and has a €40 million release clause written into his contract, which Sevilla have previously insisted this month that they will not negotiate below this price.
However, it appears that Atletico will land the striker in a move which appears to have been hastened by the clubs striking a deal for Argentine striker Luciano Vietto moving the other way – a €3m loan deal with an option to buy over €20m at the end of the campaign.
Gameiro, who netted 67 goals in three seasons in Seville, was also said to be a primary transfer target of Barcelona but it now appears that the Catalans have given up the chase.
