According to this morning’s edition of Sud Ouest, Bordeaux defender Lamine Sané actually refused to be in the squad for the club at midweek against Lorient in the Coupe de la Ligue because he no longer wants to be the team’s captain nor does he want to sit on the bench.
He blames Willy Sagnol for rushing him back too quickly from thigh and knee injuries to the player’s own detriment in vital games against Liverpool (1-2) and against Caen (1-4).
As a result, Sané demanded to leave the club in December after a league game against Marseille.
Talks continue with Aston Villa and Besiktas over a possible departure.
