Newcastle United have completed the signing of Bordeaux winger-come-midfielder Henri Saivet, subject to a medical. The deal is understood to be worth upwards of €6m. The player in the meantime has reached a contract agreement with the Magpies for around 5 years.
Bordeaux manager Willy Sagnol confirmed the player’s departure in a press conference this afternoon ahead of FCGB’s Coupe de la Ligue clash in midweek.
Sagnol had the following to say:
“Newcastle and Bordeaux have reached an agreement for the transfer of Henri Saivet. For me, Saivet was our most important player in the last 6 months. Henri Saivet wanted to leave the club and was looking for another challenge. He has been here for a long time. I gave my agreement for the departure of Saivet.”
