Championship side Newcastle United have made contact for French youth international Sébastien Haller, according to L’Équipe.
The Magpies have made a simple enquiry to gauge the player’s interest in joining.
Haller is however the subject of more serious talks involving Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese side has made their interest known in recent weeks as they look for possible replacements for the likely to depart striker Islam Slimani.
Before the Chinese window closed, Guangzhou Evergrande made a €15m offer to Utrecht for the player. Haller rejected the opportunity.
