As recently as this afternoon, France boss Didier Deschamps was seriously considering dropping Manchester United central midfielder Paul Pogba for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté for Les Bleus’ encounter with the Netherlands tomorrow, GFFN has learnt.
In an international break that has done much to worsen relations between Deschamps and Pogba, the Manchester United man turned up late for a training session on Thursday night at the Stade de France, provoking a particularly colourful conversation between the pair.
Pogba then performed poorly against Bulgaria on Friday, showing a lack of animation and efficacy in the deeper midfield role.
As a result, Deschamps will decide in the coming hours whether or not to drop the Pog for Kanté.
Pogba and France, not the perfect romance.
