Lyon attacker Rachid Ghezzal’s brother Abdlekader has confirmed in an interview with Le Progrès that the two parties are no closer to agreeing a contract extension, with Ghezzal’s current deal expiring at the end of the season.
“Quite simply, Rachid has not receiving playing time guarantees. And that is what we want. Say he signs an extension with a good financial increase, but why? When would he play? We do not feel that Lyon are absolutely resolute in having Rachid as part of their footballing plan. That is what bothers us. And we are seeing this season, he has only started once or twice. In the system that Lyon are using, there is room for Nabil Fakir, but where do you put Rachid then?”
