According to our colleagues at Foot Mercato, Ligue 1 side Rennes are considering making a move for Ligue 2 top goalscorer Famara Diedhiou during this transfer window.
The player is actually currently on loan at Clermont from Sochaux, the former side having an option to buy in their loan agreement which they can activate at any point during the player’s loan for around €350,000, according to the report.
Sochaux currently own the player of course, but are not understood to have integrated a recall clause in the loan deal, making them effectively helpless if they wanted to bring the player back to them this season (he has scored 17 goals in 18 matches so far during the 2015/16 Ligue 2 campaign).
Rennes would have to go straight to Sochaux if they were to make an offer for the player this month, and the report claims that Montanier’s side would be willing to pay up to €2.7m to get their man.
More undoubtedly to follow in the coming days.
