Speaking in an interview with Onze Mondial, Manchester City attacking midfielder Samir Nasri discussed how he has dealt with being treated by the French media as a bad person.
“When I meet people in the street, nobody says to me (that they don’t like me). I would say that maybe today people do not know me. They do not know who I am. The perception they have of me comes from journalists. I am not liked by journalists. I am seen as an arrogant, pretentious person… Maybe I am not well-liked in France. I have been described like that. But it does not bother me. As long as the people surrounding me know who I am, that suits me… I don’t give a s*** about it. Honestly, I laugh. Me aside, it can affect people in my family because they are not necessarily prepared for that. But I laugh about it. Talking, talking, talking. What are you going to do? You are not going to do anything to me. I continue to play, to ensure that the fans that I have enjoy themselves, I continue to earn a living and there you have it.”
