According to our colleagues at La Provence, there has been a twist in the negotiations between Fiorentina and Marseille concerning the possible loan of Lucas Ocampos.
Ocampos was expected to join the Serie A side on a loan deal until the end of the season, a deal that OM had agreed to in principle.
However, Marseille have since changed their tune and would rather sell Ocampos outright to Fiorentina immediately, if it means that they can exchange Ocampos for Fiorentina’s defensive midfielder Mario Suarez.
The initial plan was to loan Suarez, but in order to do that, Marseille would have to terminate one of their loan deals. Initially they were looking to rid of Lucas Silva early, but he refused.
Then Marseille turned their attention to Paolo de Cegile, but the player is now needed after an injury to first choice left-back Benjamin Mendy, who will be out for a month or so.
The transfer window jigsaw puzzle is well underway to being solved for Marseille.
