Bayern Munich rejected €65m from Chelsea for Franck Ribéry in 2008

Speaking in an interview with SportBild, Bayern Munich’s Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed that the Bavarian club rejected a €65m offer from Premier League leaders Chelsea for French winger Franck Ribéry in 2008.

“This offer was made in 2008 and was almost inconceivable. The decision not to sell Franck Ribéry was strategic because his presence was counted on for the development of Bayern Munich.”
