Exclusive | Marseille currently not able to afford Moussa Dembélé deal

Ligue 1 side Marseille are being priced out of a move for Celtic forward Moussa Dembélé, according to sources contacted by Get French Football News.

Dembélé was Marseille Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta’s priority signing in attack, but Marseille only have €15m allocated to spend on another striker this window, owing to the fact that they have used the rest of the budget set out by Frank McCourt this summer.

Unless President Eyraud is able to get the American owner to sanction more funds for the final 48 hours of the window, which, seems unlikely this late on, Dembélé will not be joining Marseille.

Having said that, after the 6-1 defeat to AS Monaco at the weekend, maybe there will be a change of heart and approach to the transfer window.
