Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema rejected an offer in December from a Chinese side believed to have been Tianjin Quanjian, according to L’Équipe.
The offer included a three year deal with a salary worth between €23m and €24m a year annually for the French striker.
Speaking to Tianjin Sports TV, the Chinese club in question’s owner Shu Yuhui had the following to say relating to Radamel Falcao and a player from Benfica:
“The contracts were written, the price and salary had been discussed. They were ready to sign and then we received the signal about the introduction of these restrictions… We did not have another choice, we had to change our plans.”
This insinuates that actually Falcao’s move to China was due to take place, Monaco fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
