Metz are close to signing Portuguese central midfielder Cafu from relegated side Lorient, as well as Brazilian winger Leonardo from Serbian club Partizan Belgrade, according to L’Équipe.
After gaining €17m from Rennes for Ismila Sarr, Metz are expected to reinvest that money into Cafu and Leonardo, with the latter set to cost around €4.5m, so says the Serbian press on Tuesday.
The club is also looking to strike a deal with Lorient for Cafu, but the deal for the 24-year-old, who only joined Lorient in the summer of last year, is further away from completion.
The moves would be two good deals for Les Grenats, who are looking to find a replacement for Sarr, who left earlier in the month. These two signings could be enough for Metz to stay in Ligue 1 for another season.
