Wolves have snapped up AS Monaco starlet Rúben Vinagre on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy from French champions AS Monaco.
The highly-rated defender was part of the Portugal Under-17 squad which beat Spain to win the European Championships last summer amid speculation of interest from English giants Manchester City and Arsenal.
He joined the French side from Sporting Lisbon in 2015 but has yet to make a first team appearance. The 18-year-old will train with both the Wolves first team and the under-23 squad.
“I am very happy to come to a big club like Wolves for this season,” said Vinagre after the deal was finalised. “A new story starts for me here at a club with big aspirations in the Championship.”
He went on to say, “I like English football and the Championship and this is the perfect chance for me to get some experience. I am 18 years old and this is a really positive move for me and a good challenge.”
