Patrice Evra has officially joined Olympique Marseille on an 18-month contract from Italian giants Juventus.
The veteran full back turned down moves to the likes of Crystal Palace to join Rudi Garcia’s side and will add a lot to the dressing room of Marseille as they look to push for a European place in the latter stages of the season.
Evra, 35, has had a storied career at some of the biggest clubs in Europe and will now look to see out his career where he started, back in Ligue 1.
Marseille were in desperate need of reinforcements at the back and amongst the talk of a Dimitri Payet return, it seems to be forgotten that the main weakness of OM was their defence, something that Evra will improve greatly.
The experience that Evra has is something that will not only improve Marseille on the pitch, but it adds something invaluable to the dressing room, and that’s a winning mentality and an experience in the big situations.
