Rennes midfielder Clement Chantome has left the club to join Ligue 2 club RC Lens on a season long loan, without the option to buy at the end of the deal.
The 31-year-old leaves Rennes after only a year, following his arrival in 2016 on a free transfer from Bordeaux. Despite his experience at the top level, he only managed to make eight appearances for Rennes, failing to register a goal or assist in his season at the club.
Chantôme is most known for his seven years in Paris with Paris Saint-Germain where he would make 246 appearances in all competitions before being shipped out on loan to Toulouse. After 241 games in Ligue 1, Chantome will finally make the step down to Ligue 2 in a bid to add experience to Lens and hopefully gain promotion with them.
