Sochaux have completed the signing of defender Olivier Verdon on a two-year contract.
The central Beninese defender signs for the Ligue 2 side after his contract had expired at Bordeaux, having only made one senior appearance for Gustavo Poyet’s side since signing his first professional contract in April 2017.
Born on October 5th, 1995, Verdon is an imposing defender at 6 ft 3 in who was a product of the academy at Angoulême CFC, before being recruited by the B team of Les Girondins, where he made 31 appearances and scored 2 goals.
Despite being born in France, Verdon is a Beninese international, with two caps to his name having debuted in a 1-0 friendly loss to Mauritania in March 2017.
The 22-year-old will be hoping the fresh start in eastern France will give him the necessary playing time to enable him to kick-start his professional career.
