L’Équipe reported this morning that French teenage wonder-kid and goalkeeper Alban Lafont is set to leave Ligue 1 side Toulouse this summer.
Napoli are understood to be the side who have shown the most concrete interest so far, with Pepe Reina having recommended Lafont’s name and active discussions ongoing between the relevant parties, led by Napoli Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli.
The problems are likely to arise over a transfer fee, with Aurelio Di Laurentiis unwilling to spend more than €10m plus bonuses for Lafont, with Toulouse President Olivier Sadran wanting more.
AS Roma and Arsenal continue to follow the Frenchman very closely, but have not made any firm approaches. Roma are anticipating the potential loss of Alisson, with Liverpool interested, so have been in touch via intermediaries, with Sporting Director Monchi no stranger to Ligue 1 talent.
Newcastle United and Watford have placed the player on their respective shortlists, without making a move as of yet.
