Speaking in an interview with Le Parisien, PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola discussed his plans for next season.
“The next step of my career at PSG will be sorted out after the World Cup. For the moment, I have not met with the club’s representatives. I do not know what they want to do. One thing is certain: if I am offered the chance to stay at PSG, then I will accept without hesitation. I am here. PSG is my club, ever since I was a kid. But we also know that it is sometimes difficult to stay in the club where you started. All of the right criteria need to be present. Now, if I am not allowed to keep the same amount of playing time, then things will certainly be different.”
He was then asked if he would require to be the number 1 goalkeeper in order to stay at PSG:
“That’s it. Because if I do not stay on as number 1, that would mean that the season I have just had would be pointless.”
