Antoine Griezmann’s potential Barcelona move remains up in the air

RMC report tonight that Barcelona intend to sign French international attacker Antoine Griezmann this summer, but only after the 1st of July, when a clause in his Atletico Madrid contract comes into effect which sees his release clause drop from €200m to €100m.

This situation is in conflict with France boss Didier Deschamps’ wishes for all his players to have sorted out their transfer business before the World Cup begins.

Griezmann wants to make the step to Barcelona, but not at all costs, and the situation is getting increasingly fiery, with Atletico Madrid recently releasing a statement condemning the media coverage around the player days before their Europa League final clash with Marseille.

Atletico Madrid, on their part, are assessing their legal options in terms of insisting that Barcelona pay the full €200m anyway, by claiming that negotiations with Griezmann clearly began before the 1st July 2018.
