AS Roma optimistic of closing Malcom deal despite Barcelona’s last gasp bid

AS Roma are this morning confident of sealing the signing of Brazilian winger Malcom, despite their €36m deal being dramatically gone against by Bordeaux last night, who received a €41m plus bonuses bid from an intermediary authorised to negotiate on behalf of Barcelona and thus refused to allow Malcom to travel to Italy for an eventual medical.

Our reliable colleagues at Goal France understand that AS Roma however are back in the driving seat, after Sporting Director Monchi upped their bid, which will now be worth close to the €40m package that Bordeaux were initially demanding.

As we have seen with this deal, nothing is complete until the player signs, but after a scare last night, AS Roma’s deal for Malcom looks to be back on track.
