Speaking to reporters following France’s narrow 1-0 win over Peru, Blaise Matuidi discussed the World Cup in general.
“It is a great satisfaction to have had two successes in two matches. In terms of our play, we can do better. We did what we needed to do to win, we have chances in the first half. We responded against Peru in terms of physical level, too. The opposition did what was necessary to put us in trouble. They were pushed by their amazing supporters, we had the impression that we were playing an away match. It is difficult for everyone in this World Cup. Congratulations to Peru who are eliminated despite having an impressive match.”
“I am not a player who specialises in 1 vs 1, but I adapt in order to help the team. I tried to do my best so that we could win. I am enjoying myself on the pitch.”
