Bordeaux have wasted no time in seeking to find a replacement for manager Gus Poyet, who was fired yesterday after a sensational press conference rant against the club’s board.
Our reliable colleagues at Goal France understand that Bordeaux have approached Thierry Henry, in a move that was proposed by future owners of the club, American investment fund GACP.
Henry will now take some time to speak with sources that he has close to Bordeaux to find out more about the project and to think about whether this would be the ideal springboard from which to start his managerial career.
Among other targets on their shortlist are Jurgen Klinsmann and Michael Laudrup.
L’Équipe understand this morning that Laurent Blanc and Remi Garde are two other individuals who Bordeaux are considering for the managerial post, but that Thierry Henry is indeed the number one target.
