Speaking to reporters following PSG’s 4-2 victory of Nîmes yesterday afternoon, Kylian Mbappé was asked about shoving opposition midfielder Teji Savanier after the latter left a nasty challenge on him, which resulted in the former receiving his first red card in a league match in professional football.
“It was an accumulation of things, that is football you have to learn when you play this type of team to be above it because it is like this every weekend so if I get annoyed every weekend, I will receive a lot of red cards, so I have to rise above it… It was that last tackle. I am not going to linger on it but I think that it had no place on a football pitch. But anyway, the referee made his choice and as I said I have to rise above it. PSG is above that, we are above that… If I had to do it again, I would. And I would apologise to all the fans and everyone but I cannot accept that type of challenge.”
