Speaking to BeIN Sports, French superstar Kylian Mbappé gave his reaction to winning the World Cup at the age of 19.
“I am happy for the team. We suffered for a long time to get here and now we have achieved our aim. We are truly happy. We are proud. We know that we will forever be part of history, we can now never be forgotten. There is of course joy too, to see all the French people happy. To see our families who were there too happy, it is a great thing.”
On the constant banter within the French squad:
“It is great, it allows us to contextualise, to think about other things, when there is otherwise a lot of pressure around us.”
On the weight of expectation:
“I know what I want. From the moment that you know what you want, I haven’t got there yet. So I cannot stop working. I know we are world champions, but if you can do that, then surely that means you can do more great things in the future. It is a passport to encourage you to continue to work.”
