Bordeaux winger Malcom posted an apology to the club’s fans on Instagram tonight for a video posted on the social media site last night immediately after the team’s 2-0 defeat to Caen which saw the player in question and several of his Brazilian team-mates laughing and joking. The apology has now however been deleted by Malcom, furthering the strange nature of the whole situation, see the text below. The player has been called to an internal disciplinary hearing over the video.
“Yesterday, after the game against Caen, Cafu’s wife published a video on her private Instagram account that provoked anger and incomprehension… In this video, we wanted to show the winter time in Bordeaux to our loved ones. That is why we were smiling. When we saw the affect that it had had, we immediately removed it. We never had the intention of showing a lack of respect to the club and to our fans, but simply we wanted to send a message to our families and friends in Brazil. We apologise to everyone who felt insulted or offended. Allez Bordeaux.”
