Mario Balotelli’s yellow card relating to racism incident retracted

OGC Nice striker Mario Balotelli has had the yellow card rescinded that he received during the recent Ligue 1 fixture with Dijon by the LFP.

Balotelli was booked by referee Nicolas Rainville for protesting incidents of racism that he believed he was suffering from Dijon fans. In what can only have been described as a miscommunication between the two, with a considerable language barrier, Rainville viewed Balotelli’s gestures as exigent and therefore booked him.

The league’s governing body has since retracted the yellow card.
